Actaea are rhizomatous herbaceous perennials Hillside beauty produces dark purple foliage during summer and then tall spikes of pink scented flowers in autumn. 

Best when planted in good moisture retentives soil. Grow in dappled shade to help maintain its deep, dark foliage colour. It will tolerate morning or late afternoon sun but avoid very hot areas of the garden.
