Alocasia Black Velvet is a much sought-after rarer species of alocasia, but it's becoming much easier to get hold of.

‘Black Velvet’ is a dwarf species native to Borneo, where it lives on the floor of the tropical forests. It grows to around 20inches in height and from rhizomes. The leaves are wide and deep green, almost black, with pale splashes or spots underneath and a white vein, which contrasts beautifully with the deep green leaves. The leaves are almost velvet to touch and are extremely tough.
