Native to Africa, Madagascar and Southern Asia, sansevieria are actually part of the asparagus family. Sansevieria have been placed in the genus Dracaena since 2017.

 

Commonly called the snake plant, or mother-in-laws tongue, they have stuff thick leaves which are sometimes used in rope making and for bowstrings because of their tough fibres.  This particular variety is a short compact plant with plain green leaves. Great for small spaces and on shelves.
