'Linearis Polydactyla' is a deciduous fern forming large, shuttlecock-like clumps of erect to arching fronds reaching 1.2m tall.
Commonly known as the Male Fern (Filix - fern, mas -male) it's easy to grow in most cool, moist, lightly-shaded sites, but will grow in full sun if given plenty of moisture. Tolerant of dry shade but water regularly in their first season and mulch well.
Large bushy habit, deciduous and hardy. Good for woodland areas.
This particular Dryopteris is native to much of Europe, but not the UK
