Eryngium agavifolium
£15.99
Eryngiums are a very diverse species with over 240 species worldwide. Agavifolium is native to Southern America.
Commonly called Sea Holly, it is a strikingly attractive plant that usually bears rounded deep blue flowers and dark green, heart shaped leaves on upright stems in Summer. This variety however, produces a beautiful white/blue flower and is much more striking in borders that other varieties.
Plant eryngiums where there is bright light, poor soil and good drainage in order to develop a strong, rigid stem. Overwintering can be a problem, so choose a warm position and be prepared to protect a choice plant with fleece or straw in severe weather.
They are great statement plants in a warm gravel garden planted among sun- lovers. Or use it as a plant sculpture at the front of a sunny, open area with bold planting behind
