Purple loosestrife, Lythrum salicaria 'Feuerkerze', is a tall-growing marginal perennial that enjoys growing on banks of streams and around ponds. It has strong, upright stems, topped in summer with long, poker-like heads of deep pink blooms. A double-flowered cultivar that produces considerably less seed, minimising unwanted seedlings.
