Native to Brazil, this tall growing cactus has hundreds of sharp spines along its entire body.   Like all cacti, it needs little water and free draining sandy compost to thrive.  Keep in a bright spot but not direct sun. 

Water when bone dry in the summer and feed with a cactus food. Reduce watering in the winter.
