Niwaki Mini Shears

SKU SQ6031118

£44.00

You may be like me and have small hands. Big hefty garden shears are a bit of a nightmare for me and I find them heavy and awkward to use. After a while I just end up with achy shoulders, sore wrists and not much else! Step forward the Niwaki Mini Shears. These babies are my perfect tool. Mini in size but not in useability. I love these. They feel right in my hands, they aren't heavy or awkward and I can get a really good cutting action going without putting in too much effort.

Obviously being mini they won't cut some of the really thick stems that bigger shears can. These are perfect for cutting box, trimming pre-spring growth and giving everything a little tidy up. And being mini they can reach tight spots that bigger shears might be awkward in. A lovely little pair of shears that all garden sheds should house!

Use and Care

1. Correct Use:

  • Japanese steel is hard and sharp, and can be more brittle than some people are used to - it will chip if abused
  • Do not cut wire, metal, stone, plastic or any other hard material (even bamboo fibres and some very hard woods, especially knots and burrs, can damage steel edges)
  • Do not twist or apply uneven pressure
  • Cut diagonally across branches (not straight across) so you cut along the fibres
  • Pay attention to our maximum cut dimensions, and don’t overdo it (shears are not loppers)
  • Use the base of the blades, not the tips, for heavier cuts

2. Keeping Them Clean:

  • Remove leaf resin, rust and gunk with a Crean Mate and water
  • Dry, wipe over with Camellia oil and store in a dry place
Tips
  • Clean with a Niwaki Crean Mate rust and sap eraser
  • Sharpen with a Niwaki #1000 grit stone
  • Protect with Niwaki Camellia Oil

… do keep them clean - dirty shears clog and the blades stick.
