Sidalcea 'Rose Queen'

Price

£6.50

The 'prairie mallow' resembles a miniature holly hock, although much prettier!

Native to western North America, Sidalcea Rose Queen bears clusters of upright stems topped with large light pink mallow-like flowers from early to late summer. A beautiful cottage garden plant it works well with daisies and other billowy flowers. Although the stems are tall, they are strong, so don't usually need staking.

It prefers full sun in moist well drained soil. It will tolerate dappled shade. Cut back the stems are flowering, down to the ground. Sidalcea don't like to be soggy so if heavy rain or snow is forecast it would benefit from a thick mulch. It can grow to a height of 1.2m with a 60cm spread so suits the back or middle of a border.

Pollinator friendly, this plant will provide nectar late into the year.
